Six Japanese Companies to Jointly Establish TV Portal Site in Early 2007

According to Japan's Asahi Shimbun, TV Portal Service, a joint venture formed by six Japanese companies in July, 2006, including Matsushita, Sony, Toshiba, Sharp, Sony Communication Network, and Hitachi, plans to launch a joint TV portal platform named acTVila in early 2007. Through this TV portal site TV viewers with internet-enabled TV sets and broadband connection can access other websites where they can perform various activities, such as online shopping.
